Install from the disk image

  1. Download Caxton 2.2.0 and open the disk image.
  2. Drag Caxton to your Applications folder.
  3. Open it. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

The cask installs the caxton command beside the app: caxton file.log, caxton data.csv --table and caxton . open files and folders from a Terminal. The disk image install adds it from Caxton ▸ Install Command Line Tool….

On Homebrew 7 or later, run brew trust hwyenigmallc/caxton first if the tap asks for it. The cask installs the same notarized disk image, and the app updates itself from then on.

The Caxton Pro trial, and after it

Your 7-day free trial of Caxton Pro starts the first time you open Caxton, no credit card or account required. Every feature is on for those seven days.

After the Caxton Pro trial, or when a subscription lapses, opening, searching, filtering, comparing, and copying stay free at any file size, and so does saving reports such as duplicate groups, problem rows, and frequency tables. Editing or saving a file you opened, sorting, transforms, removing duplicates, and extracting contents to a new document need Caxton Pro; the license page lists every feature by tier. Plans are on the pricing page: $9.99 a month, $99.99 a year, or $179.99 for a lifetime license, each good for 3 Macs.

A file to try it on

Want a sample file to try? orders-export.csv is a 20,000 row orders export to try the grid on. Open it, switch between text and table with the grid button in the toolbar or ⇧⌘C, and edit in either view. The data is synthetic.
